1. About BookMySet
BookMySet is an online marketplace that connects people who want to book creative spaces (“renters”) with the people who own or manage them (“hosts”). We are not the owner of the spaces listed, and we do not provide the spaces ourselves. Our role is to provide the platform, verify identities, and hold payments safely until a session is complete.
2. Eligibility & accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to use BookMySet.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account details up to date.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password secure.
- We may ask you to verify your identity (and, for hosts, your business and ownership of a space) before you can transact.
3. Bookings & payments
When a renter books a space, payment is collected at the time of booking and held securely by the platform. Funds are released to the host only after the session has taken place, in line with our payout policy. BookMySet charges a service commission, which is shown before you confirm a booking.
A booking is only confirmed once payment is received and the host accepts the request. Until then, the requested times are not guaranteed.
4. Cancellations, refunds & deposits
- Each listing displays the host’s cancellation policy. Please read it before you book.
- Where a refundable deposit applies, it is returned after the session provided the space is left in good condition and no valid damage claim is raised.
- If a host cancels a confirmed booking, the renter receives a full refund of amounts held.
5. Host responsibilities
- List spaces accurately, including pricing, availability, amenities and house rules.
- Only list spaces you own or are authorised to rent out, and that are safe and lawful.
- Honour confirmed bookings and provide access as described.
- Complete identity and business verification as required before receiving payouts.
6. Renter responsibilities
- Use the space only for the agreed purpose and within the booked times.
- Follow the host’s house rules and treat the space and equipment with care.
- You are responsible for damage caused during your session beyond fair wear and tear.
7. Trust, safety & verification
To keep the marketplace safe, we verify hosts and may verify renters using government-issued identity checks. Listings and the people behind them are reviewed before going live. You must not impersonate anyone, create fake listings, or attempt to take payments off-platform — doing so removes the protections both sides rely on and may result in suspension.
8. Prohibited conduct
- Using the platform for unlawful activity or to list unsafe or illegal spaces.
- Circumventing the platform to avoid fees or our secure payment process.
- Harassment, discrimination, or fraudulent reviews and bookings.
9. Disputes & damage protection
If something goes wrong, contact us promptly. We help mediate disputes between hosts and renters, and our damage-protection process governs how deposits and claims are handled. Our decision on the release of held funds and deposits is made in good faith based on the evidence provided by both parties.
10. Liability
BookMySet provides the platform “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the conduct of hosts or renters, the condition of any space, or losses arising from a booking, beyond the amounts we hold for the relevant booking. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.
11. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, pose a risk to other users, or engage in fraud. You may close your account at any time, subject to completing any in-progress bookings.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Nigerian courts.
13. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll post the updated version here and change the “last updated” date above. Continued use of BookMySet means you accept the changes.
