1. Who we are
BookMySet (“we”, “us”) operates this platform for booking creative spaces in Nigeria. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. To reach us about privacy, email hello@bookmyset.com.
2. Data we collect
- Account data: your name, email, phone number and password.
- Identity & verification data: government-issued ID details (such as NIN or BVN) and, for hosts, business and space-ownership information used to verify you.
- Booking data: the spaces you view, request and book, messages, and reviews.
- Payment data: transaction records. Card and bank details are handled by our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers.
- Usage data: device and log information to keep the platform secure and working.
3. How we use your data
- To create and manage your account and process bookings and payments.
- To verify identities and keep the marketplace safe and trustworthy.
- To provide support, send service messages, and (with your consent) product updates.
- To prevent fraud, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases
We process data to perform our contract with you (bookings), to meet legal obligations (such as identity and anti-fraud checks), for our legitimate interests in running a safe platform, and on the basis of your consent for marketing — which you can withdraw at any time in your notification settings.
5. Who we share data with
- Hosts and renters: the details needed to complete a booking (for example, your name and the booking times).
- Payment processor: to take payment, hold funds securely and pay out hosts.
- Identity verification provider: to confirm IDs against trusted sources.
- Email provider: to send booking and account messages.
- Authorities, where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal and financial record-keeping requirements. We then delete or anonymise it.
7. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the regulator of serious breaches as required.
8. Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data;
- request deletion of your data, subject to legal limits;
- object to or restrict certain processing; and
- withdraw consent for marketing at any time.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and the platform secure, and limited analytics to understand how the service is used and improve it.
10. Children
BookMySet is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
